The Z50R was the US-market off-road member of the Monkey family, launched in 1979 and built for two decades. It used the 49 cc overhead-cam single with proper front and rear suspension, a conventional tank, a flatter seat and a left-side exhaust, which made it the quickest Monkey and the usual choice for youth mini-motocross. Early bikes came only in red.
